Proposal Review Call Mar 12 - Thread

:writing_hand: Call Notes

Thanks to everyone who joined the Proposal Review Call on Wednesday! This call primarily focused on ZIP udpates, as the Ignite team was unable to make it. Below is a collection of summarized notes and links shared in the call.

:movie_camera: There is unfortunately no recording from this weeks call.

Ignite Update: Ignite was unfortunately unable to make the call due to some last minute scheduling conflicts. They asked me to share that they are working on reviewing the plans for S2 and beyond, and will try to join the next Proposal Review (March 26th) call to provide an update then.

ZIP Updates

[ZIP-5] Upgrade Governance Contracts

[ZIP-6] Prepare ZKsync for ZK Gateway

  • Stage 1 of the upgrade executed. Etherscan link coming soon.
  • Stage 2 of the upgrade will be executed in 2 weeks, after ZK Chains have upgraded.

[ZIP-7] Lens Chain inclusion on Elastic Network

  • Currently in the Risk Review period for the SC to approve.
  • Target execution date is Monday 17th March

[ZIP-8] Upgrade Chain Creation Params

  • Voting period is live! Currently around half way to quorum. The current voting period closes on Sunday. If quorum is met within the last 3 days of the voting window, the voting period will be extended 3 days from the point quorum is met.

NOTE: ZIP-5 Parameter Changes:

In case you did not see it, param changes from ZIP-5 have now been implemented to the Protocol Governor. That means for the Protocol Governor, the following parameters have been updated:

  • _votingDelay: Decreased from 7 days to 3 days
  • _lateQuorumVoteExtension: Decreased from 7 days to 3 days. This means that there is only a voting period extension if quorum is met in the last 3 days of the original 7-day voting period. The voting period is extended by 3 days from the point quorum is met.

The Gov Team has updated the docs to reflect these changes. (see Standard Governance Procedures, ZIP Process & Timeline diagram).

General ZIP Note:

If any Delegates have suggestions on how to make ZIPs easier to understand & digest, please always feel free to share! With some bigger & more complex protocol upgrades in the pipeline for this year, we want to start thinking about ways to make sure Delegates are able to assess and understand the technical implications, even if they do not have technical expertise.
