Everyone makes mistakes, but not everyone handles them the same way. After I discovered the issue yesterday, I immediately posted about it. Then, posts appeared on X. I don’t know if someone from the community saw my post and then shared it on X, or if they already knew and were addressing it. If a person makes a mistake and faces no consequences, they are likely to repeat the same mistake next time.
I tracked the information on the zk chain and found that the thief is a meticulous novice. Judging by their methods, they are likely a smart first-time offender, probably an internal zk employee rather than a remote hacker. If this issue isn’t thoroughly investigated, the tokens unlocked on June 17 will likely be stolen again. I hope the zk organizers take responsibility. When tokens are issued and tradable, you, as managers, have a duty to be accountable to the market instead of shifting blame to the thief. I suggest the zk team could, over the coming years, burn 100 million zk tokens in batches as a gesture of responsibility for the loss of the private key. This is merely a suggestion, not a threat or complaint.
