Standing Delegate Call March 4th - Thread

Happy Monday ZKsync Delegates! :sparkles:

We hope everyone who attended made it home safe from ETHDenver. Below is the thread to gather discussion topics for the upcoming call on Tuesday, March 4th.

Please drop discussion topics for the call in this thread! The goal is to collaboratively curate the agenda by having Delegates propose discussion topics (with reasoning) in this thread. Others can “upvote” a topic by liking the different posts, which will help prioritize the items for the agenda.

I will update this forum post the day of the call with a proposed agenda based on results from the thread. I will use that agenda as a guide to help facilitate the call.

:phone: Subscribe to the “ZKsync Delegates Calls” calendar to access call invites and links.
Check out the Standing Delegates Call post describing the focus, format, cadence and other details of these standing calls.

Feedback and insights from ETHDenver (for us who didn’t make it )

  • How was Elastic House side event? (topics discussed, type of visitors that attended, which booth was most popular,)
  • DAO Governance (like ZKNation delegate meetup, general talks, rounds tables etc. on this topic)
  • Other events related to ZKSync

Thanks to everyone who joined the Standing Delegate Call on Tuesday! Below is a collection of summarized notes and links shared in the call.

:information_source: Check out the video description for timestamps on different discussion topics. Given we have the recording, notes will be kept very brief. Please watch the recording for full context!

Question: EVM translator, v26 does not include emulator, comes with v27 (applies to other chains, not to era)

  • Reminder: Protocol Governor parameter changes from ZIP-5:

    • [EDIT] There parameter changes for the Protocol Governor that were approved in ZIP-5 will not go into effect until the Security Council approves ZIP-5 and it is executed on L1. Once executed, the Governance Team will be updating all documentation with the new parameters for the Protocol Governor and necessary contracts.
    • In the Delegate call on Tuesday, I communicated that the Protocol Governor parameter changes included in ZIP-5 would not go into effect until the SC approves & executes the proposal on L1. We were able to confirm today that that was incorrect, and as ZIP-5 was already executed on L2 after passing the onchain vote last week, the parameters have already taken effect.
    • That means the the following new parameter changes for the Protocol Governor already apply to ZIP-7, which is live for voting right now.
      • Reduce _votingdelay from 7 to 3 days
      • Reduce _lateQuorumVoteExtension from 7 to 2
    • NOTE: The new voting extension only applies if quorum applies if quorum is met in the last 2 days of the initial 7-day voting window, increasing it to either 8 or 9 days.
    • As quorum was met on day 4/7, there will be no voting extension applied to ZIP-7. For ZIP-8, you will notice the reduced voting delay is already in effect.
    • The Governance Team apologize for the miscommunication. This is the first parameter change in the governance system and are using this as a learning experience for potential parameter chances in the future! Once the SC executes ZIP-5 on L1, the Governance Team will update all docs, diagrams and other relevant resources with the new parameters and contracts.
  • ZKsync Governance Team ETHDenver Recap:

  • TPP Builders Presentation Signup

    • In an effort to highlight different builders of token mechanic elements, we are asking anyone who has posted in the TPP Builder category on the forum to sign up for a slot to present on the next few Delegate calls. Please see post for details.
  • ZKsync Community Program

    • This is an initiative funded through the ZKsync Foundation, and is designed to empower contributors, reward meaningful participation, and provide clear pathways for community members to play an active role in expanding the ecosystem. Delegates are welcome to participate in it.
    • Relevant Dates:
      • March 5 – The Community Program details will be communicated by Gitcoin, and available on the ZKsync Community Hub. A dedicated Q&A channel will also open on Discord, providing a space for the community to ask questions and get insights.
      • March 7 – A Discord AMA at 4PM UTC will offer a deep dive into the program, its roles, and the rewards structure. The onboarding process will officially begin, inviting eligible participants to start their journey in the program.
