Hey everyone,
I’m bxpana from the Matter Labs team. We’d like to provide some clarification on ZIP-4 and announce an important update regarding execution limits on ZKsync Era.
What’s changed?
The execution delay on ZKsync Era has been reduced from 21 hours to 3 hours. This means that any batch committed more than 3 hours ago can now be executed. However, this change does not mean that batches will always be sealed or finalized in under 3 hours—it simply removes the previous restriction that required a 21-hour wait before execution was possible.
What this means for users:
• This update does not guarantee that all transactions will finalize on L1 in under 3 hours. The actual finalization time depends on network activity and proof generation.
• On lower-activity chains, transaction finalization may still take longer (e.g., 11 hours in some cases), but with increased traffic L1 finality should be 3 hours.
ZK Chain execution updates:
This change is now in effect on ZKsync Era. We are also working with other ZK chains to implement similar changes, but execution times may vary. If you are using other chains, please check directly with them for their current execution time.
