ZKsync Foundation Proposals Priorities

Foundation Proposal Pipeline Update August 2025

Hi everyone,

I wanted to provide an update on the work the Foundation has been focused on the past few months and the impact that institutional demand has had on our proposals plan.

Sustainable and Secure Protocol Development: Decentralizing Operations

One of the Foundation key goals is the long-term sustainability and resilience of the ZKsync protocol. The establishment of ZARP (ZKsync Audit Review Program) reinforces high audit standards for ZKsync developers working on protocol upgrades, ensuring that protocol contributions are aligned with industry best-practice. ZARP also lowers the barrier for devs to engage in protocol upgrades - an essential step toward decentralizing protocol development.

Decentralizing protocol development should be paired with the decentralization of governance bodies and common infrastructure. Together, this makes ZKsync durable and resilient. As the governance team mentioned in recent calls, the Foundation has bootstrapped early funding for governance bodies, infrastructure, and operational resources. However, long-term legitimacy depends on independent funding and accountability via the Token Assembly’s public governance process.

In line with this vision, the Foundation supported the development of TPP-5: ZKsync Security Council Bridge Funding, TPP-6: ZKsync Security Council v2 Funding and TPP-7: ZKsync Guardians Funding 2024-2026, which together lay the groundwork for a sustainable, independent funding model. The Foundation also intends to support similar funding paths for common governance infrastructure to ensure long-term resilience and autonomy.

Ecosystem Growth: Doubling-Down on Prividium

With ZKsync Era now fully integrated into ZKsync Gateway, cross‑chain interoperability will get blaziong fast - bundled liquidity, shared proofs, and massively lower fees are finally here.

Meanwhile, ZKsync’s new Prividium solution has officially launched - bringing enterprise‑grade, privacy‑first blockchains anchored to Ethereum, tailored for use cases with complex regulatory and compliance requirements. ZKsync Chains such as Memento and GRVT are already building live solutions on Prividium, proving it’s production‑ready.

Since the announcement of Memento x Deutsche Bank, institutional interest in setting up Prividiums has surged. It’s now evident that many global financial organizations need privacy and interoperability and Prividium is currently the best solution in the market for it. This growing demand highlights a significant market opportunity: Prividiums are emerging as a key differentiator for ZKsync in the blockchain landscape. When combined with the power of ZK-proof technology, they position ZKsync as a natural institutional homebase.

Governance is a strategic tool to accelerate ZKsync business development. In response to this clear market signal, we have been working on a series of ecosystem growth proposals that align with institutional needs. Two proposals that can be expected on the forum soon include:

Tokenomics, Token Utility, and Governance Innovation

The Foundation has been actively engaging in discussions on how to further expand the utility of the ZK token. The ZKnomics Roadmap Vision outlines a path forward that enables the ecosystem to unlock additional functionality for the ZK token.

Over the past two months, the Foundation has been actively developing proposals for several core components of the ZKnomics roadmap:

  • Token Burn Function: This protocol upgrade introduces a burn function to the ZK token contract, enabling the community to “burn” minted ZK and return it to the total supply. The Governance Team is currently working with Scopelift and Matter Labs engineers to develop and audit the required code for this feature.
  • Staking Pilot Program: The ZKsync Foundation has been working with Tally to develop a Token Program for staking. The pilot is designed to create a seamless entry point into new token technical features - such as fee distribution - while strengthening governance participation.

Let us know if you have any questions here in the thread. I also plan to join the Proposal Review call on September 10th to discuss the update and answer questions from Delegates.
