ETHDenver Delegate Meetup & Happy Hour - ACTION: TOPIC CURATION

On Thursday, February 27th the ZKsync Governance Team (Gov Team) will be hosting a small ZKsync Delegate Meetup & Happy Hour in Denver, CO.

:people_hugging: ZKsync Delegate Meetup (12-4pm): The meetup will focus on discussing key topics and challenges that have emerged in recent months. You can expect something fairly similar to the Bangkok meetup, but with some new elements. These meetups are an opportunity for Delegates to meet each other in person, work together and build connections.

:clinking_glasses: ZK Governance Happy Hour (4-7pm): The Happy Hour will be a more casual format for Delegates, proposal authors, technical partners, Matter Labs representatives, ZKsync Foundation folks and others to meet up and chat.

Delegate Meetup Format

The final format is still being determined. The Gov Team has already identified a few topics to highlight, but would like to hear from Delegates before finalitation of a format. Similar to the Delegate meetup in Bangkok, the Gov Team would like to gather insights from Delegates in this thread.

The Gov Team will collect notes from the meetup and draft a post to share on the forum so Delegates who are not able to attend can review the outcomes of the event.

:star2: Currating Discussion Topics - CALL TO ACTION FOR DELEGATES

Even though not all Delegates can make it to the meetup, the Gov Team wants to make sure all Delegates are able to contribute to the curration of discussion topics if they want to. This thread will also become a great archive that captures Delegate sentiments at this point in time.

@Delegates - Please refer to these guideing questions to brainstorm possible discussion topics for the workshop. Please leave your :sparkles:TOP 3 topics in the thread below!

  • What topics or questions are top of mind for you right now related to ZKsync Goverance or proposal development?
  • What aspects of the ZKsync Governance System remain unclear? What additional resources or tools would you find useful?

Hi! Thanks for inviting to join to the ZKsync Delegate Meetup in Denver, but unfortunately I won’t be able to attend it. It’s too expensive and too far from me :pensive:
But I appreciate the opportunity to contribute discussion topics.
Here are my topics I’d love to see addressed:

  • Staking Mechanisms
  • Incentives & Engagement for Long-Term Delegate Participation

Regarding staking, it would be good to consider the implementation of the “staking + delegation” model. What do I mean here. For example, there is Starknet. There you can either delegate tokens or stake them, that is, there is no way to stake tokens and vote with them at the same time. It turns out that delegates, by participating in voting, deprive themselves of the right to rewards for staking. And from my point of view this is not fair. It would be good for a delegate to be able to vote and stake ZK at the same time.

Regarding incentives, it would be a good idea to create an incentive program that could encourage thoughtful participation delegates and to become more involved in creating and discussing protocols.

Sorry, but for now I only have 2 topics :slightly_smiling_face:

I’ll be glad to read your notes from the meetup later.

Happy ETHDenver Delegate Meetup in Denver to all who can attend!

:information_source: Meetup Update

Hey folks! Looking forward to seeing everyone next week! :dizzy:

We were able to get team members and functional leads from ML and the ZKsync Foundation to join for part of the meetup - including Alex Gluchowski (Founder of Matter Labs), Marco Cora (Executive Director of ZKsync Foundation), Meghan Hughes (CMO) and Anthony Rose (CTO). They will join for a portion of the meetup to discuss strategic priorities, engineering roadmap for 2025, provide an update on ZKsync branding, and share their thoughts on ecosystem strategy.

This provides a great opportunity for Delegates to engage directly with these individuals and engage in thoughtful discussions on key topics face-to-face.

We plan to share the tentative agenda for the event early next week. Please let us know if you have any questions in the meantime by simply responding in this thread!
